Job Description
We are seeking an experienced OSP engineer with good knowledge and hands on experience in ARAMIS. This position must have working level of knowledge in all technical aspects of designing OSP fiber and copper plant and work as a team member with OSP Design engineers. The successful candidate is responsible for the field design and layout of OSP (Outside Plant) telecommunications network to include aerial, buried and underground Fiber network design and layout, underground conduit, manhole/hand hole, building entrance and riser facilities, utility, road and railroad crossings and other complex ROW issues. Candidates should be familiar with engineering in the public right of way and on private property.
Responsibilities & Duties
The job includes but not limited to coordination with customers, understand customer requirements, site survey/walk, design plan and profile.
- ARAMIS DT knowledge.
- Must be able to successfully lead a team of engineers in an organized and efficient manner to achieve corporate/customer goals for network expansion and deliverables.
- Provide both field data gathering and design services in support of the outside plant provisioning process.
- Able to determine best construction placement methods based on cost, schedule and physical field conditions.
- Manage subordinates scheduling, quality and budgets
- Travel to required work sites.
- The candidate must have good understanding and knowledge on Telecom roadway plan, ROW, underground utility structures, ability to read the scope and review plans.
- Work closely with the OSPE’s/design engineers to meet client expectations
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Micro station, AutoCAD, GIS systems, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to use a personal computer for technical designer applications.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Candidate must have at least 3 years of experience in Aramis- DT.
- 4 years Engineering degree or equivalent experience in the corresponding field.
- AT&T Aramis design experience is a plus.
- Ability to plan and design projects with a good oversight.
- Professional understanding of OSP planning, design, and construction methods.
- Knowledge of fiber telecommunications networking.
- OSP fielding and construction preferred but not required.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in variety of CAD applications and understanding AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of outside plant activities (Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, Conduit System design).
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- AT&T Aramis design experience is a plus
